Notes: Here is a recording that I made while attempting to sing my infant son to sleep. You can hear a white noise machine roaring in the background, and toward the end you can even hear little baby noises. Truthfully, Forest's mom is much better at composing interesting lullabies for him. When I'm not piggybacking on one of her ideas, I tend to defer to variations on this theme. When Forest is worked up and I need him to rest, I repeat the phrase "slow down, Forest", or sometimes "Forest, please slow down", slowing the tempo progressively with each subsequent repetition. When it works, it works well. His breath slows with the song, and ultimately he falls asleep. When I made this recording, it did not work.
