Notes: For starters, this song should accompanied by a totally different picture, but I did the best I could with what I had on hand. I pledge to get out and about in the world to refresh my available photography with a greater variety. Last week's image would have been more appropriate. At least there are some trees in the background here... but moving on.
My birthday is in a few days, and I typically get a bit reflective this time of year. As I approach a new age, am I who I want to be? How can I be stronger and more resilient? How can I safeguard against the unknowns that await?
Another thing that is a year older is my relationship, because it started on my birthday. The existential anxieties of this song are offset by the strength and comfort my partner provides. With her, I can accept that the future will come and take whatever shape it must. For now, we can focus on now.
lyrics
One of these days
The song of the wind
Could blow me over baby
Where can I begin?
Have I been strong?
Are my roots in the ground?
Where I stretch my branches darling
Will sunlight be found?
It's getting to be an old love
At least a little bit older
And love you're a good one
With your head on my shoulder
And all of your branches swaying with mine
Listen here
Sometimes I am afraid
That fate could split me open
Or burn me away
But nothing we can do
Can clear every path
But we can listen for nightfall
And focus on that
It's getting to be an old love
At least a little bit older
And love you're a good one
With your head on my shoulder
And all of your branches swaying with mine
