Notes: This week's photo is the view from the hospital room where my son is staying at Maine Medical Center. He is still working on hitting some developmental milestones, but his pace toward his necessary benchmarks for release has quickened lately. He has the energy of somebody who wants to get moving. His world is so small right now, and I find myself eager to get him out into the wider one just outside the window. But with premies, progress takes time. When he reaches a milestone (like finishing a whole bottle without needing his feeding tube) it's like he has run a marathon. He needs to recuperate for a while before doing it again, and ultimately doing it consistently. So this song is a note to myself to exercise patience. The world is wondrous and waiting, but we need to take things one day at a time. Soon enough, all of this will change. Before I know it, he will be running wild.
See the world
It's a wild and wondrous place!
We could spin and match its pace
Or we could take one day at a time
We could take one day at a time
That's what we should do
