about

Notes: This week I did the best I could under bad circumstances. I recorded this fast and dirty on my phone's voice memos app. It sounds out of tune, and the singing is strained. The reason for this is that I'm sick with bronchitis. That's not an excuse to miss a week, but I didn't have a lot to give.

Lately I've been thinking about my son who I don't know yet. He'll be here soon. The lights are coming on for him. He hasn't been born, but he's busy and awake. Soon his light will fill my house, and I will do my best to protect it as long as I can. Someday he'll take his light and go, but I'm getting way ahead of things. Still, it's important for me to recognize that his light is his own, and he will shine it in his own way. I can't wait to see how he shines.

lyrics

I hold the light in the palm of my hand
It spins away and I understand
I can't hold it forever
I can't hold it forever
I can't hold it forever
I can't hold it forever
Because the light isn't mine
