about

Notes: Here's another song about time and memory. This one is about memory fading. There are times in my life that are becoming fuzzy, and some of them are more recent than I would hope. I think the pandemic is a dividing line. Things before it feel looser, harder to hold onto. I don't want to lose my history, but I don't think I have much say in the matter. Time will go on and the past will stretch out behind me as I go. From time to time, a new dividing line will emerge, and everything on the other side will get fuzzy. I think it's the way of things.

lyrics

I am driving
Through the evening
Through the forest
Under moonlight
Like a searchlight
Like an eye that sees

I remember
Some December
Some forgotten
Conversation
Some important
Turn of history

I've forgotten
Half of my life
Up until now

Count the lampposts
Name the off ramps
Little towns I've
Lost forever
Unless I ever
Learn my history

I've forgotten
Half of my life
Up until now
