Notes: As I wrote this song, night was falling. My phone told me that sometime between when I go to bed and when I wake up, it will start snowing and it won't stop for while. I have my needs met. I have shelter and food. I work from home, so the conditions outside sometimes land with me like trivia. I'm pretty lucky. The way my life is set up, I get to enjoy the aesthetic of hunkering down without much of the inconvenience. I can get cozy and do my thing. I can enjoy the quiet and the dark. I can remark at the telltale color the night sky turns when it's ready to blanket the landscape. I can linger on what's nice about it.
lyrics
Preparing for the nightfall
They said there could be a storm
Not a twisting frightful dark thing
Maybe a nice one like before
If the wind drives home the wild things
And the road holds nothing more
I'd be fine to stay indoors
And by the way the dark looks pretty
When the night does what it's for
You can't catch this in the city
We couldn't see like this before
If the wind drives home the wild things
And the road holds nothing more
I'd be fine to stay indoors
