Notes: In the past couple weeks we have had several snowfalls here in Maine. Some have been more significant than others, adding several inches at a time to the cumulative depth. Others have been just a dusting to contribute a fresh layer on the very top. I wanted this song to be a bit like the layers of snowfall. I laid down a base layer on guitar, and during each subsequent cycle, I added something new on top. The lyrics are the thoughts and reflections that float out across a snowy field on the breeze. It's simple, and I hope it's nice.
lyrics
Awake before the morning light
My thoughts wind up
Defeat the night
The snow atop the way it was
What's underneath
A remnant of
I once was out to find myself
Until I believed in someone else
Upon the wind and through the air
The note could be heard anywhere
