This time of year it's a pretty common sight to see flocks of migratory birds making their way wherever it is they are going. I have a vague understanding about where birds go and why they are going there. While I have a lot of curiosity to learn the ornithological specifics of this behavior as it pertains to various species, I also enjoy the poetry and romance in the vagueness. They leave because something deep inside them tells them they must. They go for a time, and eventually they return to the place from which they came. When I was younger, I used to come and go with the seasons too. Back then, I was more like the birds. Something in this song is about looking up, remembering, and envying their flight.
lyrics
There it goes
The wind is setting out from here
Old dirt roads
The paths we take to disappear
Have we the faith to take one now?
Once in your life
The open spaces take you in
Day into night
The burst of starlight can begin
Have we mind to grasp it?
The paths we take to disappear
Have we the will to take one now?
