I wrote this song a couple of weeks ago as part of a backlog created ahead of my trip to California to see my brother and his wonderful family. I was thinking about the opportunity to be together, and all the time we lost to the pandemic. I was thinking about the sheer effort of waiting, and what it took out of us. I don't want to be misunderstood. I'm not naively singing that the trouble has all passed. I'm honoring the simple beauty of reunions, because they are joyful and pure.
lyrics
We all said hold on
We all said hold on
We all said hold on for what?
We all said carry weight
We all said carry weight
We all said carry weight for what?
We were holding on for this
We were holding on for this
We were holding on for this
We said we'd feel it some day
We said we'd feel it some day
We said we'd feel it some day but when?
We said we'd carry the weight
We said we'd carry the weight
We said we'd carry the weight for what?
We were holding on for this
We were holding on for this
We were holding on for this
