This is a song I wrote for my friends because I miss them. I dream of them nightly. I imagine them throughout the day. I wrestle with the time we've lost with each other. I imagine a circle around all of us wider than the space that divides us. Inside of that circle, no matter how wide it needs to be, we're all together. I pull the circle tighter and tighter until I can see all of their faces, until the space between us collapses, until things feel right.
lyrics
I hold my hand up
To trace a circle all around us
'Cause time grew wild
We're hanging on
The current plight of every lost soul looks the same
I dream a promise to my friends
I'll stand alert to every sound
We'll clasp our fingers end to end
To trace a circle all around us
Who am I to rest?
To breathe content through any of this
I call my courage at the break of dawn
The taste of morning has never changed at all
I'll raise a fire that I'll defend
And stoke revival from the ground
We'll clasp our fingers end to end
To trace a circle all around us
