Notes: After a first attempt that left me feeling a little frustrated, I found myself motivated to exercise greater patience with my new Pickaso guitar bow over the long weekend. Having vowed to take my time with it, I feel I came a lot closer to understanding how I can use it as an expressive musical tool.
As we get closer to March, which will be the anniversary of the shit really hitting the fan in the United States, I find myself thinking a lot about the transformation our world has undergone during the first year of the pandemic. So often, it strikes me how unrecognizable even the granular aspects of everyday life have become. This is a song about living in a foreign world, getting used to it, and learning to understand it.
lyrics
I'll tie my shoes
I'll start the engine up
We'll drive away
Into the evening
I'm mesmerized
The world is black and white
Along a road
I thought we knew
I'll close my eyes
For but an instant
It's all I can do
Across the world
The wind along the shore
A heavy load
To carry far
The Earth grew cold
And we were frozen too
We burrow deep
Beneath the surface
I'll close my eyes
For but an instant
It's all I can do
