Some songs that I write are best thought of as passages to other songs that are on their way. This is one of those songs. It was a vehicle to try out a couple of ideas, sketch a bit of melody, and turn a few phrases. It was a valuable exercise, but I can't pretend that it will work its way into my heart or become an old favorite one day. That's okay with me. This track is once again tapping into the anxiety all around, as the world continues to vex good people everywhere. It describes feeling lost in the wilderness, the passage from night to day, and the need for connection that all people are reaching for right now. These themes are certain to have more space to develop in my songs during the weeks and months to come.
lyrics
Lyrics:
Hold back the radio waves
Hold back the start of the night
So much that never goes wrong
So much can never go right
I could be lost in the cold
I could be out in the rain
I could find my way by the morning
Hold onto colorless light
Hold at the mouth of the cave
Hold when the meter is high
Hold on whatever they say
I could be lost in the cold
I could be out in the rain
I could find my way by the morning
Go to the clearing at night
Call to the top of the trees
Call out the name of your love
Hear your name on the breeze
I could be lost in the cold
I could be out in the rain
I could find my way by the morning
